Here’s another look at the Festival of Speed, recently held at Donnybrook Raceway, footage provided by Oracle Imaging. Definitely looking forward to taking part if this becomes a regular event.
Today was the first Festival of Speed, held at Donnybrook to raise funds for the renovation of the track surface. Below is some raw footage from the morning session featuring South African Supadrift drivers and their V8 machines; who’d have thought getting sprayed with smoke and rubber would be so fun?
Who doesn’t love a good movie tie in, an awesome product placement. Admittedly its much easier to do in a TV series (think Viper, Knight Rider, Magnum PI…i’m showing my age here but you get the idea), but some movies have had some iconic matches, Italian Job, Smokey and the Bandit, Gone in 60 SecondsRead more about Iron Audi R8[…]
Along with the new luxury German SUV’s and muscles cars were a couple of classic cars. One of which i have seen before, belonging to my mechanic; the other was new to me. Actually puts a smile on my face to see more and more American muscle cars of decades past driving along the streets of the small African country that is our Zimbabwe.
Sunny clear day was forecast but it seems the weather indeed has a mind of its own. It was a bright sunny Monday afternoon when I met one the owners of this super grand saloon Jaguar XJ LWB at Sam Levy’s Village. I was very delighted and excited that I was going to do a full test drive of this super cat. The body and rims were looking shiny reflecting the sun’s rays.
The second part of this Meeting Legends brings us to the gorgeous red Series 1 Ford Mustang fastback. I can’t quite remember when i fel in love with this car. When people refer to the beauty and wonder of classic American muscle, this is the first car that comes to mind.
It’s often said that you shouldn’t meet your heroes for fear of disappointment. Nothing worse than finding that the person or in this case the car of your dreams is a mere shadow of it’s reputation. “Luckily” for me, i’ve never had the (dis)pleasure of driving the American Muscle car’s i have such a respect for.
